About

I am a youngish woman in her early forties.  I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when about 32, having come down with symptoms at about the age of 30.  Up to that point I had been perfectly, absolutely, unremarkably healthy.  However, Auto Immune disease runs on both sides of my family, and it is especially pernicious on my Father’s side. There I have relatives with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, Ulcerative Colitis. My brother has Graves disease and my maternal cousin has Crohn’s.

I have tried all the biologically based treatments for Crohn’s. Remicade is the only one that worked, until it didn’t any more. At that point my doctor started talking about surgery and I started hunting the web, looking for alternatives. It was there that I heard about Helmenth therapy and later, the quixotic journey of Jasper Laurence.

I call this web-log Super-friends, because the parasites we patrons of AIT are hosting are argued to have been symbiotic organisms with our species since time immemorial; and that by reclaiming them into our personal biosphere we are merely bringing our intestinal flora back to the balanced state it should always have had.

Aside from the naming of it, I undertook this ‘blog to share with any and all, my path with this disease and the journey Necator Americanus takes me on, I hope it is of some use to you.
